(1890-1905)
Art Nouveau, which translates into new art was the decorative art form that swept through Europe right before the turn of the twentieth century, more commonly known as the "Art Nouveau movement" that started in the 1890's immediately following the Victorian era and ended in 1905. The name "Art Nouveau" French word meaning "new"
was derived from jewelry designer Samuel Bing's famous exposition in his Paris salon named L'Art Nouveau, in which he dedicated his entire gallery to the artists and designers who would set the stage for the new art. Although "Art Nouveau" was mainly expressed in architecture, interior decoration and furniture, it also had a profound impact in the design of jewelry and fabrics.
