(1837-1914)
On June 28,1838 Alexandrina Victoria was crowned Queen of England at the young age of nineteen years old. For sixty-three years Queen Victoria's passionate and romantic nature were the result of her love of Prince Albert and her love for personal adornment.
This passion of self decoration would have an absolute influence on motifs and of course what had yet to be categorized, but would become known as the
costume jewelry of that era. The creativity of jewelry and fashion design flourished during this period incorporating exotic cultures such as Egyptian, the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods with a fresh Victorian perspective on fashion design.
