Robert DeMario
(1945 - 1965)
Robert DeMario founded his company in New York City in 1945. DeMario worked for Miriam Haskell during the 1940s until he ventured on his own, thus, his creations are sometimes confused with Haskell’s because of
the intricacy of the beadwork and pearl designs.
DeMario’s jewelry was distinctive for its clusters of glass beads, pearls and rhinestones on gilt filigree; for his use of faceted Austrian crystal beads and rhinestones and superior craftsmanship and design. His products are usually marked with his name DeMario or DeMario NY.
DeMario’s closed on or about 1965, and Robert DeMario retired to Florida. Since the company’s production was limited, and not in large quantities, DeMario’s jewelry today is highly collectible and commands high prices.
